5th & 8th Math TAKS

•·        The preliminary 5th & 8th math TAKS results have been released. Grades 5 & 8 must pass reading and math to be promoted and students are given two opportunities prior to the end of the school year. Therefore, these tests are given earlier in the year than the same tests for the other grades. The results for Tatum and surrounding schools (as reported in the Longview News Journal) are listed in the table below.

The THS Lady Eagles defeated Mart in the first game of the best of three series on Thursday. The second game will be played Friday night at
7:00 p.m. in Palestine. The next round opponent is Warren with playing dates and sites to be determined. Warren is south of Tatum and approximately 60 miles north of Beaumont.

2006 Bond

•·        The base for the parking lot work at the agriculture project barn is scheduled to be poured today, but rain is expected. This part of the project barn is the last of Phase I work.

May 10 Election

•·        Early voting for the May 10 election begins on Monday, April 28, and ends on May 6. Early voting is held in the TISD central administration office from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There are two items on the ballot, the $18 million bond package on the TISD Board of Trustees election where Karen McIlwain is running unopposed and incumbent Roger Gonzales is opposed by Bo Pepper.

Capital Projects

•·        The Board approved a $75,000 budget amendment to allow for additional capital projects during the summer. The additional projects being considered are listed below:
