THOUGHT: "Clarifying expectations sometimes takes a great deal of courage. It seems easier to act as though differences don't exist and to hope things will work out than it is to face the differences and work together to arrive at a mutually agreeable set of expectations." Stephen Covey

THS Community Service
•· Tatum High School is planning a city wide clean up for May 9 and 10. The information from the high school is listed below and they would appreciate offers of assistance.
•· On May 9 and 10 Tatum High School student body will be "Steppin Out" into the Tatum community to improve areas on Highway 149 and Highway 43. These highways were chosen by the Principal's Advisory as the most visible in the community and a place to begin what we hope becomes a THS tradition. Next year's county road locations will be determined at a later date. We hope to make beautification of our community a top priority volunteer project.
"The community gives to the school throughout the year so these days will be our turn to give back to the community", says Morgan Redmon, President of the THS student body. Students have been organized into color coded family groups and will be divided into eight or nine larger groups. These groups will be accompanied by faculty members and will be partnered with business partners to spend a day making Tatum a little cleaner.
Any person or homeowner who lives on or near these dedicated highways can obtain a request form from the Trammel Trace or Tatum High School. Complete the form if you have something that we can help with that day. Students will be making hauls to the dump, painting, mowing, weed eating, repairing, and planting. We may not be able to help every citizen that asks for the help but the student/teachers/business partners will determine those locations with the highest need and we will do what is humanly possible.
Now, what can you do to be involved? We need business partners to work alongside student groups, we need equipment and gloves, and we need 8 sponsors who will contribute to the t-shirts for the students at ($250). If you are not able to contribute $250 but could give $50, every little bit will go toward the unified effort on May 9 and 10. We are hoping to end the project with a cookout on Saturday at the Park.
A planning committee meeting will be held at THS at 4:00 on April 10. Please call with your support or attend the meeting. Let's get this ball rolling and work together with our young people to improve the looks of our great community.
