Tatum ISD Recognized District
Tatum ISD Recognized District
2007, 2008 & 2009
Top 3.6% of Districts in Texas
The accountability rating system in Texas is based on the percent of students mastering five TAKS tests along with the dropout rate in grades 7-8 and completion rate in grades 9-12. In each of these measures the student groups are disaggregated into a maximum of five subgroups: all students, African American, Hispanic, White and Economically Disadvantaged. Due to these subgroups there is a maximum of 25 TAKS indicators that are measured and used to determine the accountability rating.
Due to the size and diversity of the student body in any particular district, the district will have to meet from 5 to 25 indicators. Due to the diversity of our student body, which is one of our strengths, TISD is required to meet the standard on all 25 indicators.
Tatum ISD received a Recognized rating in 2009 joining 576 of the 1,235 school districts (including charters) that reached Exemplary or Recognized, 46% of the districts. When controlling for size and diversity, there were 44 districts (including Tatum ISD) that were measured on all 25 indicators and were rated Exemplary or Recognized (only one Exemplary). This places TISD in the top 3.6% of districts in the State! There were 145 districts that were evaluated on at least 20 indicators and were Exemplary or Recognized, placing TISD in the top 11.7% of districts in the State!
Once again, congratulations to the students, staff and parents for a job well done! At the same time, the goal on this measure of student achievement hasn’t been met until achievement is at the Exemplary level, 90% or more passing. TISD has attained this goal in all but math & science and everyone is asked to continue to join in the efforts to maintain the current achievement in ELA & social studies and increase achievement in math & science.
