Principal's Message

Welcome to the Tatum Elementary School website.  Tatum Elementary serves roughly 375 fourth through sixth graders of the Tatum Independent School District.  Tatum Elementary School is a small rural school located in the Piney Woods of East Texas.  Our campus sits 20 miles from four different county seats, Longview, Carthage, Henderson and Marshall.

Tatum Elementary school is a wonderful place to teach and to learn.  Our curriculum, instruction and assessment processes are second to none.  Our teachers meet weekly to collaborate on rigorous and relevant lessons (www.leadered.com/rrr.html) that ensure integration of 21st century learning skills (www.p21.org) and require students to "think" about their thinking (www.idsrp.com).  We believe that all students can achieve at high levels and it is our responsibility to: set high expectations, promote academic rigor, and develop strong character.

In May of 2012, Tatum ISD voters approved a $29.9 million dollar bond package. From this package $19.265 million will be used to construct a new Tatum Elementary school campus. We are excited about the new possibilities and "Fearless Learning" that will occur in a state of the art facility.
