eLearning

While the frequently asked questions below address some issues, some of your questions may best be answered by your campus teachers and administrators. Please check back as this page will change based on the needs of the community.

How does eLearning work?

The TISD eLearning plan is focused on facilitating a flexible eLearning model. eLearning allows groups of students to study independently at different times and locations from each other, without real-time communication taking place. eLearning is student-centered and provides more flexibility. The idea is that students can learn on any device, anywhere, anytime and on any browser.

Why is Tatum ISD doing eLearning?

eLearning provides flexible support. This approach respects the variety of situations students might be encountering at home, allowing students to log on at different times throughout the day.

What can parents and students expect from teachers?

  • Teachers can respond within the designated virtual office hours or through email from 8 am-4 pm Monday through Friday. Teachers will actively monitor email and do their best to get back with the student promptly during the school day.

  • Teachers will be working from a remote location until April 3rd and are required to work Monday through Friday regular school hours.

  • Teachers will monitor student work and provide feedback.

  • Teachers will respond to student questions in a timely manner.

  • The learning is flexible so students can complete assignments at any time within the assigned work week.

  • If students have questions (including technology-related questions), they need to contact their content area teacher first.

Parents and students will find lessons on their campus websites and district homepage. The lessons are tied to the subject area teacher.

What if students have questions or need help?

Teachers will be available to answer questions via email or during virtual office hours. While teachers will respond to emails during office hours, secondary teachers have upwards of 150 students and there could be a slight delay in responses. The building principal is also available via email to answer questions

What if a student does not have a computing device for lessons?

We understand that not every family may have access to the internet and a connected device (computer, laptop, iPad, Chromebook, smartphone) at home and are prepared to work with families that may need additional support to continue student education remotely. If your family needs assistance in accessing these resources, please contact your campus administrator or complete this form.

Will there be set times my child needs to be online?

No, eLearning provides student-centered flexibility. Students can learn on any device and anywhere and anytime on any browser and should expect to turn in work by Sunday at 11:59 pm.

  • Verizon COVID-19 response: no special offers, but following the FCC agreement.

  • Sprint COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and, starting Tuesday, 3/17/2020, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge.

  • T-Mobile COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, plus unlimited data to existing customers, and, coming soon, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge.
